A Very Pleasant Moment
So hot

Breakfast at an old fish market.

Got Salmon& Lean Tuna & Fatty Tuna

Sea urechin&Salmon roe Rice Bowl and miso soup!

Sea urchin tastes like the monkfish liver from yesterday!

Never thought I would put those words in that order.

Walked around the market and tried this and that.

Steak bao dumplings, mango sorbet, and lots of snacks until we were full.

Also had a donut from I’m donut?

Walked through Takeshita and it is so hot! 96 in the shade.  Got neck towels out and umbrellas made a huge help.

Found a shaved ice place and sat in the air conditioning for as long as we could.

Went to a Shinto Meiji shrine!  Very nice to get under the shade of the trees and walk through a forest in the middle of the city.

We saw an iris garden and some other trails but it was too hot and we went back to find a cafe to sit and cool off.

Saw the Hachikō statue commemorating a very good dog who became the mascot of the town:

Hachikō was a Japanese Akita dog remembered for his remarkable loyalty to his owner, Hidesaburō Ueno, for whom he continued to wait for over nine years following Ueno's death. Hachikō was born on November 10, 1923, at a farm near the city of Ōdate, Akita Prefecture.

We saw the Shibuya shuffle! The busy intersection!

We walked diagonally across it.

Saw the Nintendo store here and it’s awesome!  So many unique items in the store. They had a lot of Pikmin stuff which you don’t see as much of in the US.

There was also a Pokémon store which had a checkout line around the block, but the kids enjoyed looking at all the stuff.

They also a capcom store but there wasn’t as much stuff in there. Just a really good Ryu street fighter statue.

Then we went to a McDonald’s to see the different menu they had.  We got shrimp filet s and a chicken teriyaki sandwich, and spicy nuggets. And melon Fanta! But it was largely just McDonald’s.  :)

It was cheap, though!  Cheaper than the US for sure.  Dinner for four: $32

We went shopping at the Don Quixote nearby and it was 7 stories of repetitive music and crowded aisles, but a neat store.

We walked over to the Shibuya Sky!  It was similar to the Empire State Building in that the elevator had a show in the ceiling of the elevator on the way up.

There was a ridiculous line to put all bags and purses into lockers. So that meant it was easier for us to split up and take turns outside. Beautiful panoramic view of Tokyo!  Pictures don’t do it justice.
